COOL-BIND™
Low Temperature Technology
National Starch & Chemical’s COOL-BIND range of low application temperature technology hot melts is leading the market across Europe . The wide product range covers all styles of soft cover books, and the performance of each product is unrivalled both on the machine and on the book.

National Starch & Chemical’s COOL-BIND adhesives provide higher performance by utilising a lower application temperature. The COOL-BIND technology allows the application tank to be run at only 120°C to 140°C. This lower temperature offers the bookbinder many benefits both on the machine and on the book.

MACHINE BENEFITS
- Fast cooling of the adhesive improves the trimming quality by reducing glue smearing on the knives and book.
- Very slow degradation rate and char build up. Maintenance and downtime are significantly reduced saving valuable time and money.
- Low volatiles improve the working conditions, leading to a safer working environment.
- Reduced risk of burns. If you have 1 gram of hot adhesive on your hand, a traditional hot melt will take 18 seconds to cool below the burn temperature. COOL-BIND will stop burning after 2 seconds.
- Lifetime of the glue pot and perimeter heating elements are extended.
BOOK BENEFITS
- Significantly higher page pull strengths and the ability to perfect bind a wide range of paper stocks.
- Less moisture is driven from the paper, which reduces wrinkling and cockling especially on cross grained paper.
- Good level of spine flexibility for improved lay flat and ease of opening
